Convocada reunión de delegados (titulaciones en inglés)

Llevo más de un año intentando llevar a buen puerto el grave problema que hemos afrontado al matricularnos en las titulaciones en inglés de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. He hecho cosas bien y he hecho cosas mal, pero por fin tenemos la oportunidad de trabajar conjuntamente con Vicerrectorado para dar una solución a la situación, una solución que sea ampliamente beneficiosa para el alumnado y para la Universidad. Para ello, necesito contar con el apoyo de todas las titulaciones en inglés, y para conseguirlo, debo informar a los representantes. 

El pasado lunes, solicité un aula donde llevar a cabo esta reunión, y una semana después, la Gerente de Campus no solo no ha respondido a un solo correo, sino que su teléfono no da señal, y no hay forma de contactarla. 

Parece que volvemos a la eterna "lucha" de "Lo hago por los cauces institucionales, no obtengo respuesta, insisto, sigo sin obtener respuesta, empiezo a sospechar que no hay mucho interés en colaborar, me salto los cauces institucionales". 

Por eso, como no tenemos un aula donde celebrar la reunión, convoco a los representantes de las titulaciones en inglés a la reunión del 13 de marzo, a las 3 de la tarde, no en un aula, sino en la puerta del despacho de la Gerente. No basta con hacerlo con o sin la universidad. La universidad ha de facilitar los medios para que podamos reunirnos. Lo dicen sus propios estatutos, y desde Gerencia se ponen trabas, por no hablar del tándem Gerencia-Vicedecanato, que mantiene locales asignados a asociaciones inactivas que no han realizado una actividad en años, mientras que el resto de Asociaciones tenemos que mendigar un aula donde reunirnos, y arrodillarnos para que, cual limosna, nos la concedan.

Assembly

Good afternoon,

In regards of all that was said last Thursday, the whole situation we have in between hands and all the efforts we have made, and will have to keep making, I want to convene an Assembly for next week. Since we have P.E. on Monday, and there are two groups, take into account Monday is out of the possibilities. Nevertheless, I will take advantage of that, to set the date before class and let you know then the when and where.

For that matter, I would like you to, please, fill this form, so that I can find the most fittable date for most of us.

Mathematics I

Hello fellas,

As you may already know, our Mathematics teacher for next year told us half of the subject will be in Spanish, and the other half will be in English. She was very fierce about that when we had the issue with our former Social Psychology teacher.

I have learnt that, according to the Manual para la elaboración de una Guía Docente, all subjects must be taught in either English or Spanish, but only one language.That's the reason why we wouldn't claim Spanish Literature to be taught in English, but that must be the reason too, why we should demand the whole Mathematics subject to be taught in English.

We have experienced how tangled it gets when we let teachers do as they please for a time, expecting them to behave as they should, and all the troubles it brings to us at the most inappropriate timing. So, in order to set things clear before we start, so that I can bring all work done the very first day of class, when things need to be done right away if we want to avoid past uncomfortable situations, I want to ask you one question in regards of this matter:



Furthermore, I have also learnt that our teaching guide for a subject has to concur with the Spanish teaching guide for the subject. Since we have had troubles with that too, mostly in Sociology of Education, I reckon it would be a lot easier if we set things clear the first day, so I have a second question for you to answer:



It is important that we have a legal teaching guide, so that if anything happens and someone needs to complain, they cannot play tricks on that person, as it has happened a few months ago with Focus on Diversity. It doesn't seem fair to me that we let teachers do as they please while they are so strict with us. Letting all of this to happen leads to uncertainty on whether the teacher will be good to us if we let him/her do what he/she feels like. This way, with all due respect, we let the teachers know that we are aware of our responsibilities, but also our rights, so in order to avoid problems (for both parties), we all should do things properly.

Polls will be open for a while, and at the end of the month I will contact the degree coordinator and our tutora integral to brief them about the issue.

Psychology complaint delivery

The results of the probe show that more than a 90% of the people who showed enough interest to answer a simple question agree with the text in the complaint.

I will try to reach the degree coordinator during the weekend, only to check what has been said in class. You, and everyone else who is aware of everything that has happened so lately in regards of the messages delivered by the teacher, should understand that some of us don't trust completely the word of the teacher anymore, so that is the reason for checking with the degree coordinator.

Depending on what she says, we shall, or not, deliver the complaint on Monday.

This is a post for students from 1st and 2nd year of Degree in Primary Education. It is very important that you post your opinion on the open thread of the forum on the Remedial Exams. That is the means used to decide when do we want to take them. We will answer the degree coordinator the day after tomorrow with whatever we decide. E-mail for unattendance

As I said I would, I am posting the e-mail I have sent to Social Psychology teacher in order to justify my unattendance tomorrow. This you may use as reference to explain your situation and why you would not attend her class tomorrow in case you are not going to.

I attended the first class, when you explained the dynamic of the class. As far as I learnt that day, if we were not interested on receiving lessons in Spanish, we could refrain from attending your classes, for you would let us know in advance the days you had thought of giving assignments to do in class.

In a show of respect, trusting you would meet the class' will and give the lesson in English, I attended last class, but it was also in Spanish, so I left. Apparently, there is a rumour about an assignment tomorrow, but I have not been told in advance, as it was stated by you.

The main reason I am writing this e-mail is because I live far far away from college, and there is no other class but yours tomorrow, so it would really annoy me taking a 2 hours trip to college in order to find myself forced to leave again the class. This is why I let you know that, whether there is an assignment or not tomorrow, I will not attend your class.

I hope you find all due respect in this e-mail, because it is never my intention to bother you. 

I have also learnt about the situation in Pre-Primary Education, your intention to give the following lessons in English, and your need for a little comprehension and patiente in order to let you prepare those lessons. Tomorrow's classes

Hello mates,

This post is to remind you (or let you know, just as I learnt today) that we will have no Audiovisual Communication lessons tomorrow. That makes going to class to get one hour of lessons in Spanish. THAT, I am not taking, so you will not be seeing me around tomorrow. (Sorry for my French but...) I simply can't be arsed to take 2 hours of public transport, getting to class and having the teacher speaking Spanish. I am sorry, but if I did that, it would mean I would have to stand up, leave, and deliver a complaint right away via Registro, but as far as we have seen... It is not the time to get in any troubles...

So, it is up to you, whether you attend or not classes tomorrow, but if we want to let them know we want to be given lessons in English, the only thing we can do so far is refusing to take lessons in Spanish.

Asociación de Competencias Bilingües URJC

As most of you know, some of us have created a new association. It is called "Asociación de Competencias Bilingües" and all of you can join whenever you want.

Sadly, we will not be able to perfom many activities until next year, for it needs to be aproved by Vicerrectorado first, and that is not likely to happen at least until March next year.

Either ways, you can join the new Tuenti Page or the recently changed Facebook Page.

I hope we can all help improving the University and make the most out of our stay in it.
